For the Pathway player, I threaded a strong, durable ribbon cord (not supplied) through the hole at the end of the player so the player can be hung from a person's neck or from any hook.
The player's supplied #14430, 3.7v, 600mAh, 2.22 Wh, AA-sized battery is rechargeable (while inside the player) using the supplied cable and a standard, common 5v USB charging device (not supplied). A common AA-sized 1.5v dry cell could be inserted into the player in an emergency situation in place of the supplied #14430, 3.7v rechargeable battery, but the charging cord must absolutely not be used when an emergency 1.5v dry battery is inside the player.
The player's controls are intuitive and are easily learned by experimenting. You can momentarily press a super-fast-forward or a super-fast-reverse button (in the first row) to sequentially move among the Bible's books, one by one. Each book's name is announced. Alternatively, to move even faster through the books, you can hold a super-fast-forward or a super-fast-reverse button and count the number of beeps (there is one beep per book skipped). Book names are always announced, so you cannot get lost.
The fast-forward and fast-reverse buttons (in the second row) are used to move among the Bible's chapters, and the book name and the chapter number are announced after each press of the button. Alternatively, if a fast-forward or a fast-reverse button is held down, one verse is skipped and a beep is heard for each verse skipped.
This player can be operated in complete darkness, since there is no visual display of information on the player. Everything required for navigation among books and chapters is announced.
