A few weeks back, I received my monthly mailing from J. Vernon McGee's wonderful Thru the Bible radio ministry. I've listened to his program since college, and it's often been a weekly blessing to me. Started first in 1967, Dr. McGee often referred to his program as getting on the "Bible Bus."
The enclosed calendar prompted me to go on their website. While on the website, I stumbled onto "The Solar Bible Bus," a very intriguing battery and solar-powered audio player with all of Dr. McGee's teachings and the complete Bible (pick your translation) in audio form.
Now, I love electronic gadgets, and I had to order one, thinking this is the perfect thing to listen to late at night if I can't sleep or to use while driving. With its raised button icons and simple operation, it's easy to use in the dark or for someone with sight impairment.
The player arrived last week. Audio quality is excellent. Same with the intuitive operation, I was very much taken with it. So much so that I ordered 11 more, one for my mother and to add to our book-giving library. And I thought, there's probably a lot of folks like my friend out there that don't like to read, have vision problems, or don't have the time to sit down and enjoy a good book. But everyone has time to listen over breakfast, while driving the car, on a plane, in the shower, trying to sleep, you name it.
They are very well built, and given the solar power (they work in the dark as they also have a rechargeable battery) number of translations and international languages available, are also intended for use in some more austere overseas nations. You will not regret it. This is a gift that keeps on giving.
