Courage For Life’s all-female voiced audio Bible encourages individuals to embrace their God-given courage for life.
Old Testament Introduction
New Testament Introduction
Reading or hearing God’s Word awakens and strengthens our faith and is a proven source of wisdom, instruction, and hope that leads us towards true freedom from the spiritual, emotional, and relational issues we face in our day-to-day lives.
“Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” – Romans 10:17
Extensive research and clinical experience have proven that the best way to help at-risk women and girls heal from substance abuse, trauma, and mental health issues, is to use gender-specific programs. Because females tend to be the more nurturing gender by nature, their voices are often perceived as a helper, more compassionate, understanding, and non-threatening.
We assembled a diverse group of women from all walks of life to record their voices as they read the Bible.
This project fills a big void in the women’s recovery space. Women in jail are the fastest growing correctional population in the country. Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness among women and children. We want to reach as many women in crisis as possible with the comfort, encouragement, inspiration, and hope that they can find in God’s Word—without ever turning a page.
More than half of Americans have read little or none of the Bible and 33% have never picked it up at all. Nearly 30% of Americans cite that they don’t have time to read the Bible, don’t read books generally, or don’t have a Bible. A women’s audio Bible addresses those challenges.
“This is not only the first audio Bible that these inmates will have but the first audiobook that many will ever have listened to. It’s amazing to consider that these women will now have the option to lie down at night and listen to the Word of God as they go to sleep.” — Ann White, creator of the Courage for Life Audio Bible
Simple, easy-to-use player will allow you to listen to your Bible anytime or anywhere.
Smaller than a typical smartphone, it has navigation buttons that allow forward and backward movement by Testament, book, and chapter. Also includes a bookmark button which allows the user to turn it on where they left off. This Audio Bible is cost-effective, lightweight, and rugged.
This Audio Bible Player has both an internal speaker and an earphone jack.
Gradually, the Courage for Life content has been made available to more than 80,000 inmates across two states. “We’re so thankful that God has opened the doors for these inmates to have access to the Courage for Life audio Bible,” says Ministry Director Kathy Sherwin. “We know lives can be changed through the living Word of God.”
When Sherwin says “lives,” she’s not just talking about the at-risk women they originally intended to reach. “This female-voiced content is impacting incarcerated men as well,” reports White. “Many men have often been wounded by men: they come from fatherless homes or have been abused, mistreated, or neglected by men. On the other hand, if there is anyone who has encouraged them, it’s almost always a woman. Grandmothers, mothers, aunts…a woman cared enough about them to share Christ with them. So when they hear the female-voice audio Bible, they are very receptive.”
REPLACING LIES WITH TRUTH
On June 3, the Courage for Life Bible app was released, giving thousands of people access to this transformative content. “We have a lot of partners, especially in crisis pregnancy centers, that are sharing the free app with women,” says White. “In places where the app is not accessible, we want to use MegaVoice devices to make this audio Bible available. Many of the women we work with see themselves as a failure, but God sees them as a victor. They see themselves as broken or worthless but He sees them as healed and valuable. These audio Bibles are helping them receive that message daily.”
